Michelle’s practice specializes in energy and environmental law with a strong focus on renewable energy generation and innovative technologies.
She represents renewable and other developers throughout all phases of project development and siting, guiding them through the regulatory landscape defined by Article 8 (and the previous Article 10) of the New York Public Service Law and the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). She also provides counsel to clients during the siting and interconnection processes with local distribution utilities and the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO). Michelle also advises clients in retail regulatory compliance matters for community choice aggregation administrators, distributed energy resource suppliers, energy service companies and energy brokers and consultants, including authorization to operate in New York, and addressing customer complaints, contractual disputes and enforcement and litigation matters.

In the realm of environmental law, Michelle advocates for both corporate and individual clients on diverse issues including permitting, regulatory compliance, civil and administrative enforcement, and dispute resolution. Her experience in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance encompasses challenges related to air emissions, wastewater and stormwater discharges, wetlands, zoning and land use as well as the Mined Land Reclamation Law.
Prior to Bond, Michelle was an attorney at another New York state based firm out of the Albany office for over nine years where she practiced in the Environmental and Government Compliance and Investigations groups, as well as the Energy, K-12 Education and Telecommunications and Media Industry teams.
