Michael brings a rare blend of experience to Bond’s nationally recognized Collegiate Sports Practice Group (CSPG). With nearly 20 years’ experience as an attorney and a background as a Division I athletic administrator and NCAA investigator, Michael has developed a comprehensive understanding of the maze of NCAA regulatory processes and established a deep professional network throughout the industry. As a member (partner) at Bond, Michael counsels his clients in all traditional NCAA regulatory matters, as well as advises on emerging issues and opportunities impacting the college sports industry more broadly.
Prior to Bond, Michael was a compliance administrator at two universities, serving as a trusted resource for campus leaders, conference officials, coaches, student-athletes and other stakeholders. He also gained extensive experience in building, implementing and evaluating institutional compliance systems that protect institutions and their campus communities. For nearly nine years at the NCAA National Office, Michael served as Assistant/Associate Director of Enforcement, where he led high-profile investigations and presented in hearings before the Committee on Infractions. Michael quickly became a leader on the NCAA’s investigative unit and cultivated strong working relationships with school officials and opposing counsel.
