Melissa provides support in all areas of patent and trademark portfolio management, working closely with the firm’s IP attorneys in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent and trademark applications, domestic and foreign. She also manages patent and trademark dockets and communicates obligations and upcoming deadlines to the IP team and clients.
Prior to joining the IP team, Melissa worked as a paralegal supporting Bond’s Litigation, Labor and Employment, and Employee Benefits practices for over a decade. She has extensive experience providing litigation support in cases before federal and state trial and appellate courts, having routinely worked on commercial, IP, employment, environmental, and trusts and estates litigation matters. In the labor and employment practice, Melissa has experience with affirmative action compliance and Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) audits, wage and hour audits, arbitrations, workplace investigations, and proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), New York State Division of Human Rights, and the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board. In the area of employee benefits, Melissa’s experience includes working with retirement plan administrators in responding to and complying with Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs).
