Jeffrey is a business law attorney and a member of the firm’s exempt organizations practice. He has represented not-for-profit clients regarding corporate formation, obtaining tax exempt status with the IRS, merger, consolidation and dissolution.

Jeffrey also regularly advises not-for-profit boards and committees regarding corporate governance, best practices and other compliance matters, including compliance with New York’s recently enacted Nonprofit Revitalization Act of 2013.

In addition to being a member of the firm’s exempt organizations practice, Jeffrey is also a member of the health care practice and long term care practice, in which he advises organizations on multiple levels and aspects of their business operations and transactional matters, including succession planning, acquisitions, mergers and sales, secured financings, non-qualified deferred compensation matters, equity-related employee benefit matters, shareholder/principal relations, contract negotiations and state and federal tax planning. 

Furthermore, Jeffrey has been very active serving a number of community not-for-profit boards, including Jewish Family Services, Jewish Federation of Central New York and the Jewish Home of Central New York, where he served as the organization’s Board Chair for the past 3 years (and as a member of the Board of Directors for over 10 years). As Board Chair of the Jewish Home, Jeffrey sought to improve the Board’s oversight of the Jewish Home’s operations, including the addition of members of the Board to medical advisory, quality assurance and staff compliance committees. He also instituted corporate compliance committees for several of the organization’s subsidiaries to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of the skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.
