What Employers Need to Know About Whistleblower Standards
August 21, 2024
In this week’s Business in 2024 webinar, Bond labor and employment attorney Michael P. Collins talked about significant changes to New York State’s whistleblower statute (New York State Labor Law § 740), which was expanded to cover additional employees and a wider array of activities. Before the statute was amended in 2022, employees had to specify the exact law being violated by an activity, policy or practice, and that activity had to present a substantial danger to public health or safety. Now, employees can report on anything they reasonably believe is a violation of any law.
The full webinar covered the following topics:
- Updated Whistleblower Standards Affect the Workplace
- Updates on New and Impactful Litigation
- New Standard for Notaries – What’s Important to Know
- What’s New in ERISA
