Understanding Cuomo’s Announcement About Lifting COVID Restrictions
June 9, 2021
As a bonus to Bond’s June 8 webinar about the evolving legal implications of COVID-19 for business, Bond government relations attorney Caitlin A. Anderson recorded a short video about the recent announcement by Gov. Andrew Cuomo about lifting most pandemic-era restrictions on businesses when New York State reaches a target vaccination rate.
Once 70% of all adults in the state receive at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, the following requirements for businesses will fall away:
- Daily health screenings
- COVID-related hygiene and sanitation procedures
- Collection of contact tracing information
What won’t change? The rules currently in place for schools, correctional facilities, public transit systems, health care facilities and large venues.
Unvaccinated New Yorkers, meanwhile, will have to continue wearing masks and social-distancing.
As of June 8, the New York State COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker indicated 66.4% of adults in the state had received at least one dose and 58.7% were fully vaccinated.
The full presentation covered the following topics:
- Continuing COVID Issues Facing School Districts
- Reopening Plan Review: What Has Changed and What Remains?
- Update from Albany
- FAQs
- Updated EEOC Guidance on Vaccinations
