The Current Status of the Corporate Transparency Act
January 8, 2025
As a follow-up to this week’s Business in 2025 webinar, Bond business and transactions attorney Alyssa Christian recorded an update on the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). As of Jan. 7, 2025, the Act is on hold due to a nationwide injunction. While the injunction is in place, reporting companies do not need to file their beneficial ownership information reports or update any reports that were previously filed. The CTA was enacted to help the government investigate improprieties, such as fraud or tax evasion, by corporate entities or owners. We are waiting for the Supreme Court to determine if the injunction should be in place and are expecting a decision sometime the week of Jan. 13, 2025.
Topics covered in today’s webinar:
- NYS Bill Signings and the Upcoming SFY ’25-’26 Budget
- Corporate Transparency Act On Pause Again
- Third Circuit rejects NLRB Thryv Remedy Rubric
