Rochester's Homicide Crisis - Complimentary Webinar Sponsored by Bond
May 10, 2022
While the rate of property crime has fallen in Rochester, the number of homicides in the city has spiked in the last two years. Homicides have surged nationwide as well during that period, but the per-capita rate here has jumped higher than in Buffalo and Syracuse—and in big cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston.
With each new incident, the community faces these questions: “Why?” and “What is to be done?” This event will focus on how the homicide surge is affecting the Rochester community, what factors explain the higher murder rate here, and what can be done by government, police and community members to confront this problem.
