Monica Barrett to be Honored by NACUA with Distinguished Service Award

(New York, NY): Bond, Schoeneck & King is pleased to announce that Monica C. Barrett will be honored by the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) as one of three 2022 Distinguished Service Award honorees. The award recognizes individuals who have given extraordinary service both to NACUA and to institutions of higher learning over an extended period of time, whether in legal or other capacities. Recipients have made outstanding contributions to the work of the Association, and to its recognition in the legal and educational professions. The awards will be presented in conjunction with the 2022 NACUA Annual Conference on June 26 in Pittsburgh.
Barrett, the co-managing member of Bond’s New York City office, provides legal advice and counsel to colleges and universities, public school districts and independent schools in all aspects of education law, including student affairs, faculty tenure and promotion, governance issues, athletics and academic affairs.
Prior to joining Bond, Barrett was Interim General Counsel at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Previously, she was Executive Deputy General Counsel at the State University of New York; Associate General Counsel at Cornell University; and Assistant General Counsel at Barnard College.
Barrett joins two other Bond attorneys, Shelley Sanders Kehl (2018) and Barbara A. Lee, Ph.D. (2020), who were also recipients of the NACUA Distinguished Service Award.
