Major NY HERO Act Deadline Comes this Weekend
August 31, 2021
As a bonus to Bond’s August 31 Back to Business webinar, Bond government relations attorney Caitlin A. Anderson recorded a short update on the latest developments with the New York Health and Essential Rights Act, more commonly known as the HERO Act.
Signed into law by the governor in May 2021, the HERO Act requires private employers to provide a safe workplace in the face of future airborne infectious disease outbreaks and notify workers about their prevention plans by Saturday, Sept. 4. Once adopted and distributed, the plans will sit idle until the state “activates” them by designating a highly contagious disease as a risk to public health.
The question on many New Yorkers’ minds: Will the Department of Health activate the plans to combat COVID-19 now? Tune in to see what Caiti predicts.
The full presentation covered the following topics:
- Mandatory COVID Vaccination Regulation
- COVID Vaccination Accommodation Issues
- Update from Albany
