How Businesses Can Be Sued and Not Know It
August 17, 2022
By: Jeremy M. Sher
As a bonus to Bond’s August 16 Back to Business webinar, Bond litigator Jeremy M. Sher talks about the backlog at the New York State Department of State that is preventing defendants named in lawsuits from receiving timely notification about being served.
Businesses that are sued have 30 days from the time a plaintiff files a complaint with the Secretary of State to respond to the action. Otherwise, they might face default.
The full Tuesday webinar covered the following topics:
- COVID Update
- New York Legislation Concerning Transgender Workers
- Tax and Corporate/Charitable Registration Compliance Issues Arising from Remote Work Performed Outside of New York
- Employees and the Service of Legal Process on Their Employers
- Recent Developments: Retirement Plans
