Higher Education and Labor Attorney Seth Gilbertson Joins Bond, Schoeneck & King

(Buffalo, NY): Bond, Schoeneck & King is pleased to announce that Seth F. Gilbertson, an experienced labor and higher education attorney, has joined the firm in its Buffalo office as Senior Counsel. Prior to joining Bond, Gilbertson served as senior counsel to several higher education institutions in the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
Gilbertson brings direct experience in all aspects of student affairs, labor and employment matters to his clients. While with SUNY’s Office of General Counsel, Gilbertson was labor and student affairs counsel for SUNY’s western campuses and he served as a systemwide leader in several areas, including international programs, applied learning, accessibility, and records management.
Gilbertson has overseen many student and employee matters, including cases before the New York State Division of Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. He has negotiated and drafted multiple documents for SUNY, including affiliation agreements, international exchange agreements, housing licenses, discrimination complaint procedures and e-discovery procedures. He also managed federal and state Clery, OFCCP and Title IX audits; represented SUNY during Inspector General investigations; was counsel to task forces on strategic planning, student wellness and students with disabilities; and negotiated contracts with Google and Microsoft.
Gilbertson is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University (B.A., cum laude, 2003) and Albany Law School of Union University (J.D., cum laude, 2006), where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Albany Law Review.
