Overview
Health care reform is impacting the operations of all businesses, from employee benefits management to issues for administrators surrounding fraud and abuse, long term care and new power of attorney laws. Bond attorneys are monitoring all aspects of health care reform and translating this information into understandable terms.
This seminar series will span issues that address health care administrators and human resources professionals. Bond attorneys from our health care practice area with experience in health care management, employee benefits and estate and financial planning will present the pertinent details to help you to address the changing health care climate.

Program
The new federal health care law includes numerous provisions with immediate implications for fraud and abuse enforcement and compliance. This seminar will cover those provisions. We will examine how the PPACA supplements and changes current law, how the federal law affects New York State law, the impact and threat to providers due to the new provisions, and the compliance changes that providers need to make as a result.

Speaker
Hermes Fernandez is Co-Chair of the Firm's Health Care Practice Group and is a member of the Executive Committees of both the New York State Bar Association and the Association's Health Law Section. He has represented health care providers in the courts and in administrative proceedings brought by the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the New York State Office of Medicaid Inspector General, in matters with the HHS Office of Inspector General, and licensed professionals before the Office of Professional Medical Conduct and the Office of Professional Discipline. He regularly advises health care providers on compliance issues, development and implementation of compliance plans, and regarding self-disclosures. Mr. Fernandez has a particular affinity for assisting clients to chart a course through unsettled law. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® 2011*.
