Bond Names Two New Management Committee Members

(Syracuse, NY): Bond, Schoeneck & King announced that effective January 1, 2022, two members were elected to the firm’s management committee. Monica C. Barrett, resident in the firm’s New York office, and Brian J. Butler, resident in the Syracuse office, joined the firm’s top leadership committee.
According to Kevin M. Bernstein, chair of Bond’s management committee, “Monica and Brian are part of our leadership team in New York City and Syracuse and both have been department and practice group leaders. In these roles they already work closely with firm leadership and the management committee. Now, in their additional role as a member of the management committee, they will also be focusing on overall firm matters and will be great additions to the committee. They are both well-respected by their peers and will continue to be valuable firm leaders in their expanded roles.”
Bond has nine offices across New York as well as offices in Boston, Kansas City, Naples, Florida, and Red Bank, New Jersey. Among other responsibilities, the seven-member committee manages and oversees the firm’s performance and provides overall long-range planning and strategy for the firm.
Monica C. Barrett is the co-managing member of the firm’s New York City office and co-chair of the firm’s Higher Education Practice Group. She provides legal advice and counsel to colleges and universities, public school districts, and independent schools in all aspects of education law, including student affairs, faculty tenure and promotion, governance issues, athletics, and academic affairs. Prior to joining Bond she served as Interim General Counsel at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
Brian J. Butler is the managing member of the firm’s Syracuse office. He represents clients in complex business and commercial litigation in federal and state courts as well as in arbitration. He also represents clients in the banking, communications, construction, insurance and securities industries and regularly represents governmental and educational institutions. Butler is a Trustee and Vice President for the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association.
