Barry R. Kogut Named Chair Of New York State Bar Association's Environmental Law Section

BS&K is pleased to announce that Member Barry R. Kogut has been named the new section chair of the Environmental Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Mr. Kogut received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University summa cum laude, and earned his law degree from University of Virginia Law School.
Mr. Kogut concentrates his practice in environmental law, including federal and state regulatory compliance and enforcement matters. His practice also extends into the area of brownfields development, remediation of sites impacted by petroleum and hazardous wastes/substances, claims under federal and state Superfund provisions and environmental regulatory issues associated with mergers and acquisitions and leases. Prior to concentrating his practice in environmental law, he practiced in the area of construction law, addressing a range of construction management issues for owners, contractors and subcontractors.
A 32-year member of the State Bar, Mr. Kogut is a past member of the House of Delegates and a member of the Environmental and Municipal Law Sections. Within the Environmental Law Section, Mr. Kogut recently served as its first vice-chair and co-chaired the section's Committee on Continuing Legal Education for 13 years.
Mr. Kogut is listed in Best Lawyers in America® 2010 and Super Lawyers® 2009 for Environmental Law and in 2009 Chambers & Partners, USA, America's Leading Lawyers For Business. Within his community, he served from 2000 to 2006 as secretary and from 2000 to 2007 as board member for the New York Indoor Environmental Quality Center, Inc.
