Are College Athletes Also College Employees?

In this week’s Business in 2024 webinar, Bond labor and employment attorney Paige L. Carey talked about the recent ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Johnson v. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), in which six college athletes sued the NCAA and their schools for compensation as employees protected under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The appellate court ruled July 11, 2024, that the athletes’ lawsuit could continue.
