Information Governance Manager

Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in more than 30 practice and industry groups, is accepting applications for a full time Information Governance Manager to support our Information Governance department in either our Albany, Buffalo, Melville, Rochester, or Syracuse, New York locations. The Information Governance Manager will play an integral role in the implementation and improvement of the Firm’s processes and procedures for managing client records and information through their legal lifecycle. This position oversees core processes including daily work intake, assignment, quality review, and delivery of work product for legal and administrative file management domains. This position also advises Bond personnel on Information Governance (“IG”) best practices as they relate to preservation of client and Firm proprietary information. The ideal candidate will have a background in data protection compliance issues facing the Firm with a focus on client data. In addition, the candidate should have a baseline understanding and/or background in the business of law, and risk facing law or other professional services industries firms and, preferably, knowledge of the systems and technology that support the Firm’s practice.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the firm’s data governance team providing training motivation and support
- Design and implement data governance training for attorneys and others in the firm
- Travel to all offices and work with office managers and administrative staff on physical records movement throughout the various offices and across the firm
- Project manage onboarding and off boarding of client and attorney data
- Be a superuser of the firm’s data governance software, iManage and iCompli
- Work closely with the IT department to understand user issues and provide resolution

Manage and coordinate physical records third-party vendors
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required, Certified Records Manager certification preferred
- High level of knowledge and expertise in document and content management systems
- Technical writing skills; presentation skills
- Ability to work independently under pressure with attention to detail, maintain flexibility, demonstrate significant initiative and self-motivation
- Ability to manage many priorities concurrently with the ability to reprioritize quickly without loss of detail
- Able to make decisions with sound and accurate judgment
- Able to lead others as a role model, providing guidance based on their needs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Creative, collaborative, passionate and results oriented
